Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 Kyushu Sangyo University Fukuoka http://www.kyusan-u.ac.jp/E/index.html http://www.kyusan-u.ac.jp/map/access.html Symposium Directions Page Program 09:00 to 09:50 - Registration 10:00 to 12:00 Symposium One: Vocabulary Learning 12:30 to 14:00 Lunch and Poster session 14:15 to 16:15 Symposium Two: Vocabulary Assessment 17:00 to 22:00 Dinner and Drinks Admission (including lunch): ¥2500 for non-JALT members ¥2000 for JALT members ¥1500 for SIG members ¥1000 for Grad Students and ES, JHS, HS teachers Format Two symposiums will be held: Vocabulary Learning and Instruction (morning) and Vocabulary Assessment (afternoon). Each Symposium will consist of 4 invited speakers and one invited discussant. Each presenter will speak for 20 minutes on his or her empirical paper. Finally, the discussant, having reviewed each of the papers, will speak for 20 minutes, commenting on the presentations and drawing them together. Following the discussant, the floor will be opened to discussion for 30 minutes. In addition to the invited speakers, vetted poster presentations will also be included at the symposium. While any vocabulary-related poster presentation will be considered, two very relevant themes are 1) Tested vocabulary teaching and learning strategies, 2) Ongoing Vocabulary empirical research. The poster session will run throughout the lunch break in the common rest area. It is the organizers’ hope that this will encourage more interaction with, and discussion about, the poster presentations. Symposium Participants Vocabulary Learning Discussant:
