NOTICE: THE 2019 SYMPOSIUM HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO TYPHOON HAGIBIS
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the JALT Vocab SIG 2019 Symposium, which was scheduled for Saturday, October 12.
Although Typhoon Hagibis is projected to become less powerful by the time it reaches Japan, there is still a high likelihood it could cause major disturbances, potentially stranding our speakers from the west in Tokyo, unable to return home afterward. It would also leave our discussant Irina Elgort flying to Japan not far from a major storm system.
If possible, we may reschedule the event for another time when all the scheduled speakers are available. We hope to see you another time in the coming months.
Session 1: Vocabulary and CALL
Discussant: Tatsuya Nakata (Hosei University)
Session 2: Vocabulary Learning and Assessment
Discussant: Irina Elgort (Victoria University of Wellington)
In addition to the invited speakers, vetted poster presentations will also be included at the symposium with the themes of "tested vocabulary teaching and learning strategies" and "ongoing vocabulary empirical research". The poster session will run throughout the extended lunch break in the common rest area.
Two Symposia of four speakers and one discussant along with poster presentations of Vocabulary SIG members during lunch.
