Symposium 2023 InformationThe 2023 Vocabulary Symposium is set for October 7, 2023, at Osaka Jogakuin University from 9:45 am to 5:30 pm. Stay tuned for further details but the time has come to submit your proposals for poster presentations. We look forward to seeing you at the event. Description and application procedures are as follows: Call for Poster Session Presentations 2023 JALT Vocabulary SIG Symposium @ Osaka Jogakuin University October 07, 2023 9:45am to 5:30pm The Vocabulary SIG is excited to announce its 2023 symposium which features Joseph P. Vitta (Kyushu University) and Anna Siyanova-Chanturia (Victoria University of Wellington) as discussants with invite speakers presenting on a wide range of topics spanning from classroom vocabulary learning to formulaic expressions. We’re also delighted that Daniel Isbell (University of Hawaii), Laura Vilkaitė-Lozdienė (Vilnius University), and Ryo Maie (The University of Tokyo), amongst others, will be presenting their work as well. As a component of the event, there will be a 90-minute poster session in the middle of the day. To that end, we would like to invite poster session proposals.

Poster Session In addition to the invited speakers, vetted poster presentations will also be included at the symposium with the themes of "tested vocabulary teaching and learning strategies" and "ongoing vocabulary empirical research". The poster session will run throughout the extended lunch break in the common rest area. Format Two Symposia of three speakers and one discussant along with poster presentations of Vocabulary SIG members during lunch. Symposium: 2 hours: 20 minutes per speaker (x3), 20 minutes discussant, 20 minutes group discussion Vocab SIG 2023 Symposium Dinner We will be holding a dinner after the symposium at the Center Point Brewpub in Osaka. Center Point is one of the best craft breweries in Osaka, serving great beer and Texas-style BBQ. Prices are also very reasonable! The venue is easily accessible by subway from Osaka Jogakuin (total time from OJ to Center Point is about 30 minutes) and a walkable distance from Umeda.
